Twitter prioritizes “verified” accounts, says CEO Elon Musk
Twitter CEO Elon Musk said on Tuesday that verified accounts on the microblogging site are now a priority.
“Verified accounts are now prioritized,” he tweeted.
This development may draw special attention to people whose accounts have been verified.
For example, if your account is verified, people viewing Twitter are more likely to see your posts.
Last week, Musk removed all old verified accounts with a blue checkmark.
American actor Charlie Sheen publicly asked Musk to return his blue Twitter checkmark.
Sheen, like thousands of others, lost his official verification badge after a site-wide purge of old verified accounts.
He was among those who declined to sign up for Twitter Blue — Musk’s $8 a month subscription service.
However, Sheen’s blue check was soon returned.
Amitabh Kant, former CEO of NITI Aayog also lost the Blue Tick on Twitter.
It was previously said that Twitter will not remove verified status from government accounts and accounts maintained by government officials.
Kant’s blue tick has not yet been restored.
Additionally, Twitter’s ongoing Blue Tick saga took another twist later, as Musk has returned many influential and famous users with blue checks despite not having subscribed to the service.
Numerous influential and well-known Twitter users worldwide have regained their Blue verification badges next to their usernames.
